Radical transparency

Why trust us

Most “free” business sites are quietly funnelling you to whoever pays them the most. We do something unusual: we tell you exactly how this works, because once you understand our scoring, our cons policy, and how we make money, you’ll see why our advice is worth trusting.

Three promises

It never changes what we recommend

We pick what's genuinely right for your situation. A referral fee doesn't move you up our list, and it never makes us suggest something you don't need.

The order isn't for sale

Recommendations are ranked by fit, not by who pays the most. Nobody can buy the top spot, there is no top spot to buy.

When the best option doesn't pay us, we say so

Plenty of the right answers, free banking, free accounting, using your home as a registered office, earn us nothing. We label those clearly rather than hide them.

How we score partners

Our recommendation engine is strictly mathematical. It ranks partners based on their feature fit for your business type, their editorial rating, and whether they solve the specific priority you selected. We explicitly strip affiliate status and commission data out of the scoring algorithm. A non-paying partner can and will beat a paying partner if they are a better fit for you.

Our Cons Policy

No product is perfect. We require every single partner on our site—whether they pay us or not—to have their downsides clearly listed. We don't use marketing speak or soften the blow. If a banking app has slow customer service or lacks FSCS protection, we state it plainly.

Changelog

We constantly review the market. Here is a log of meaningful changes to our recommendations:

  • July 2026Added Starling Bank and Mettle to our recommendation engine as first-class, non-affiliate options.
  • June 2026Introduced mandatory Cons section for all banking partners.
The honest answer

“So what’s the catch?”

Company formation is free because banks pay to acquire customers. We pass that deal to you and earn a referral fee from the bank. That’s the whole catch.

You get your company formed for free and a business account that suits you; the bank gets a new customer; we get a small referral fee from the bank, not from you, and never in exchange for steering you somewhere that’s wrong for you. If a free option is the better answer, we’ll point you there even though we earn nothing.

Who pays us, and who doesn’t

This list is generated straight from the same configuration that powers our recommendations, so what you see here is exactly what the tool uses.

  • Register your companyWe may earn a referral fee
  • Business bank accountWe may earn a referral fee
  • Accounting & bookkeepingWe don’t earn from this
  • Website & domainWe don’t earn from this
  • Business emailWe don’t earn from this
  • Registered officeWe don’t earn from this

As we add partners, this list updates automatically, and anything we don’t earn from stays clearly labelled in your plan.

Now that you know how it works
